clim-SAT workshop, 25-27 October 2017

The ASEA Uninet Interdisciplinary Faculty Development Workshop: Geospatial Applications of Satellite Generated Atmospheric and Climatic Data (clim-SAT) was held on 25 to 27 October 2017 at Sylva  Room Faculty of Forestry, Bogor Agricultural University (IPB), Bogor, Indonesia. The workshop was organized by Department of Forest Resources Conservation and Ecotourism, Faculty of Forestry, Department of Computer Science, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Bogor Agricultural University in collaboration with Interfaculty Department of Geoinformatics – Z_GIS, University of Salzburgm and it was fully supported by Directorate of Research and Innovation, IPB.  Two main activities:  Conceptual Lecture and Hands-On Practical were delivered by Dr. Shahnawaz from University of Salzburg.

The workshop intends to cover conceptual lectures and practicals on the following topics:

  1. Relevance of Geo-Spatial Methodologies and Technologies in Interdisciplinary Education and Research
  2. Causes and Impacts of Atmospheric Pollution and Climate Change
  3. Introduction to satellite GENERATED atmospheric AND climatic datasets
  4. Processing and Analysis of MODIS and TRMM/GPM Datasets (Aerosols, Land Surface Temperature, Cloud Cover, Rainfall etc.)
  5. Automatizing the workflows of processing and analysing geospatial datasets (Working with ArcGIS Model Builder)

As many 25 ASEA UNINET members attended the clim-SAT. They are 10 participants from Indonesia, 7 participants from Malaysia, 2 participants from Philippines and 6 participants from Thailand.

At the end of the workshop, all participants presented their final project related to Geospatial Applications of Satellite Generated Atmospheric and Climatic Data.
